East Kilbride Rotary Club

On the 16th July 2010 East Kilbride Rotary Club once again for their International Charity Work provided an organised trip"Doon The Watter" on behalf of the Glasgow Based Charity "Let Us Shine". Unfortunately the Club were unable to choose the weather, however the whole event was full of sunshine that came by courtesy of the four hundred & seventy two passengers on board, who appeared to be totally oblivious to the weather and extremely supportive of the whole event, so much so that the profit from the ticket, raffle and shop on board raised £6500.
All of the gifts displayed in the stall were made by the girls at their school in Kpandai Ghana. The Club are grateful to their Sub Committee for the organisational skills supplied by Rotarians John Murphy, George McGraw, Frank McLuskey, Brian Wood; Roderick Shanks; Andrew Ferguson; Ian Craig and non Rotarians Kath Shanks and Fiona Mawuena (formally Marra) plus all those who helped on board during the sail. There must also be a big thank you to everyone who donated the many prizes for the raffle.
Support from the following Rotary Clubs has been deeply apppreciated Erskine, Biggar, Renfrew, Eastwood, EK Kittoch, Eastwood, Rutherglen, Govan, Allander, Queens Park, Cambuslang, Kelvin and Bothwell who all had representatives on board the Waverley. Stirling Rotary Club were also represented
